Updated July 29, 2025
All program materials are current and have been updated for the 2025-2026 school year. We recommend clients review all materials and resources prior to delivering their programs.
SOS for Middle School
New Additions to our Parents & Caregivers Page
We’re pleased to announce several new content additions to our Parents & Caregivers page. These updates include a new interactive tour of the SOS program under the "What to Know" section and the addition of a new video that models how families can use the ACT message at home if they’re worried about their child. View updates.
Updates to the Parents & Caregivers Training Deck
We’ve also made minor updates to the SOS Parent & Caregiver Training Deck, specifically adding a new video that demonstrates how families can ACT on slide 19 and an updated overview of our Parents & Caregivers page on slide 20. View updates.
Additionally, we often receive requests from schools for a parent/caregivers slide deck that provides an overview of the SOS program that can be presented at parent nights. This year, we’ve embedded this information in the SOS portal under the “Prepare" section titled "Resources for Educating Parents & Caregivers". Log in to the portal.

Meet Ana & Lucas in our Enhanced Refresher Lesson
This summer we launched new video content to provide schools with more robust refresher lessons for each grade. Now available in your SOS portal is an enhanced version of the SOS for Middle School Refresher 1 with a new ACT vignette that features Ana and Lucas.
We've Reorganized our Refresher Lessons
In the SOS portal under the Deliver SOS tab, you’ll see that we have renamed our Refresher Lessons as SOS for Middle School Refresher 1 and SOS for Middle School Refresher 2. This was done to simplify lesson planning and offer schools a sample schedule for how to deliver SOS to your students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. Both Refresher Lessons now include two video clips to first recap the main lesson and then reinforce the learning content.

SOS for K-12 School Staff
Training Updates
SOS for School Staff has always taught faculty and staff how to help students at-risk for suicide, and this year we're pleased to announce the addition of a real-life account of school personnel reaching out for help. This new content is designed to educate school staff on how to recognize warning signs and risk factors in themselves and their co-workers, as well as access support.
More Resources
We've developed new supporting resources for schools to roll out SOS for School Staff to their school community including best practice recommendations, templates to share program information on your school's website or in emails to faculty and staff. Access resources under the SOS for K-12 School Staff section dropdown.
User Enhancements
We've simplified the user experience by placing question choices directly within the training content, so individuals no longer have to click through any extra screens.
SOS for Higher Ed
New Delivery Options
We're pleased to now provide the ability for clients to offer SOS for Higher Ed through their own learning management systems, such as Canvas, Schoology, etc. This delivery option allows colleges more customization and reporting options, as well as the ability to potentially reach more students, faculty, and staff through the platforms they are already using. Compare delivery methods.
Improved Accessibility
We've improved accessibility in our online courses by allowing learners using screen readers to navigate through all interactive elements.
Updates to our Resource Toolkit
We've updated our SOS for Higher Ed Resource Toolkit, sharing more best practice recommendations, offering a promotional suicide prevention banner to include in email signatures, and more clarification on delivery options. Access the Resource Toolkit.
User Enhancements
This past year we also made several back-end enhancements to course video quality and the ability for learners to complete our online courses with less buffering even with lower bandwidth - all with the goal of providing a more seamless learning experience across campus communities.
